Why You Should Get Married In Paradise

When choosing a special unique location for your destination wedding, many couples think about far-away places and images that ooze nature and luxury. It could be said that the best word to describe such a perfect wedding location would be ‘Paradise’. Did you know that K’gari (aka Fraser Island) is the indigenous word for ‘Paradise’? Could it be the perfect Australian wedding destination?

There are many options when you choose K’gari (Fraser Island) for your destination wedding location. Depending on your individual taste, desired wedding style, theme, number of guests and budget, there are a variety of locations and venues to choose. Hervey Bay Celebrant Andrew Gillespie says he has performed marriage ceremonies at various locations within Kingfisher Bay Resort, and also on K’gari including at the iconic Lake McKenzie. “No matter what your heart desires you can make any style of wedding amazing with K’gari as the backdrop, it just can’t be beaten”, said Andrew.

Andrew is a preferred Marriage Celebrant for weddings at the beautiful Kingfisher Bay Resort on K’gari. He works closely with a team of professionals at the resort including dedicated wedding coordinators and other wedding specialists such as photographers and stylists. When you choose to be married at Kingfisher Bay Resort you know you’re going to receive the best of everything.

There are quite a few unique wedding venue locations around the resort which are available to all couples. The most popular wedding ceremony location is the picturesque Sunset Beach which is situated in a natural setting near the resort that will take your breath away (see photo). If you prefer an alternative location, there are other stunning resort venues that overlook the rainforest, lagoons, pools, or within the expansive hotel atrium. Kingfisher Bay Resort looks after all aspects of your wedding to make it easy and relaxing, such as taking care of your accommodation needs and coordinating all the wedding specialists such as stylist, cake, flowers, celebrant, photographer, music etc. There’s also a variety of options for the wedding reception location in the resort including the famous Dingo Den (imagine rustic open-air beachside setting with tables undercover, surrounded by natural bush, keg bar tables, fire pits and an outdoor stage under strings of festoon lights). The resort also offers poolside deck locations and a traditional ball room for both ceremonies and receptions. You choose how you’d like your ceremony & reception styled and what type of gourmet catering you’d like prepared by the talented resort chefs.

Kingfisher Bay Resort also operates the K’gari Beach Resort located at Eurong, and this is another option for a destination wedding venue on the eastern beach of K’gari (Fraser Island). This is a great if you are camping nearby or enjoying the eastern sites of the world’s largest sand island. The resort provides similar wedding services, venue, accommodation & catering.

In terms of affordability, we found the wedding venue options on K’gari (Fraser Island) are comparable to other similar or standard wedding venues and destinations. Another fortunate aspect is that K’gari is easily accessible from Hervey Bay which may be convenient/closer than guests travelling to places like Port Douglas, The Whitsundays or South Pacific Islands. K’gari is a short 45-minute ferry ride (you can take your 4WD) from Hervey Bay (River Heads) to Kingfisher Bay. Getting to Hervey Bay is only a 35-minute direct flight from Brisbane or 90-minute direct flight from Sydney. Driving from Brisbane north on the highway to Hervey Bay takes about 3.5 hours.
